The spray tan works on the upper layers of your skin, which are constantly being shed through natural exfoliation. When getting your Spray Tan you may wear as little as you like or a full bathing suit. Most clients only wear a G-String but this is a personal choice. All the Spray Tan Technicians are fully trained to operate in a discreet manner and fully respect client confidentially.
The tanning application usually takes no more than 10 minutes and is dry to the touch almost immediately. After your session, you will be left with an unbelievable tan that will continue to darken & develop over the next 6 – 8 hours and last between 7 - 10 days, (depending on skin type and preparation), and can be extended by regular moisturising after the application.
Before Your Spray Tan
We highly recommend that you exfoliate twice before getting your spray tan, paying attention to rough skin areas such as knees, elbows, ankles, heels and the tops of your feet. This will ensure the best possible result from your spray tan by eliminating the top layers of dry and dead skin. We recommend this be done the day before and the same day using exfoliating gloves which can be purchased from a Chemist or Supermarket for around five dollars.
It is also best to wax or shave at least 10 hours prior and avoid the use of deodorants, moisturisers, perfume and make-up that may inhibit the effectiveness of the spray tanning solution. It is also recommended that you wear loose and comfortable dark clothing when you go to get your spray tan.
Chevron Island Tan tanning solution will not stain clothing in most cases and any slight rub-off should come out in the wash. However, some staining may occur on some light coloured leather, acrylic or other sensitive fabrics.
After Your Spray Tan
For the best possible results, it is highly recommended you do the following after your spray tan session: - Do not shower in the first 6-8 hours as this time allows the tan to develop on your skin.
- Do not exercise excessively or participate in activities that may cause heavy perspiring for at least 6hours after the tanning application.
- Avoid activities which naturally exfoliate the skin such as long baths and chlorine pools.
- Moisturise your skin twice a day; the use of our professional tan extenders will give the best results. Avoid the use of moisturisers containing AHA as they promote exfoliation.
- Tight fitting clothing or strappy / tight shoes may initially interfere with the tan so we recommend you dress in dark loose comfortable clothing and casual footwear.
- Wait at least 6 – 8hours before you have your first shower. Please note that some wash off will occur; it is simply the excess bronzer and is perfectly normal to happen.
- Gently pat your skin dry after each shower
- After about a week the tan will begin to shed away. When this happens it is time to exfoliate it off
